The First Lady of Migori County Dr. Agnes Ochilo today led a high-level delegation of county First Ladies in a visit to Rongo Sub-County Hospital and Awendo Sub-County Hospital, with the aim of assessing the state of maternal care and delivery services in the region.
Speaking during the visit, the Migori First Lady expressed her appreciation for the work being done by healthcare professionals in the two facilities, and reaffirmed her commitment to improving maternal and child health across the county.
“I had the honor of visiting the maternity wards at both Rongo and Awendo Sub-County Hospitals. Our goal was to assess maternal care and delivery services in our region,” she said. “During our visit, we were delighted to interact with the mothers and their newborns, sharing gifts as a token of our support.”
She further noted the impressive standards of hygiene and maintenance in the maternity wards, highlighting the importance of clean, safe environments for both mothers and newborns.
“We were particularly impressed by the cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities, which reflect a commitment to providing quality care for our mothers and children,” she added.
The Migori First Lady Dr. Agnes Ochilo was joined by fellow County First Ladies including Mrs. Lydia Barchok of Bomet, Mrs. Alamitu Jattani of Marsabit, and Mrs. Margaret Makelo Lusaka of Bungoma. The joint visit underlined a unified front in advocating for improved maternal and newborn health across counties.
The team commended the dedication of medical staff and pledged to continue working collaboratively to ensure that every woman has access to safe delivery services and postnatal care.
