Migori County is basking in glory after local athletics star Lilian Odira clinched the gold medal in the 800 meters finals at the ongoing World Athletics Championship.
H.E Governor Ochilo Ayacko joined the rest of the county and the nation in celebrating the historic victory, describing it as “a moment of immense pride for our county and our nation.”
The Governor hailed Lilian’s achievement as a product of hard work, resilience, and exceptional talent, noting that her triumph will inspire many young and upcoming athletes across Migori County and the country at large.
“Lilian’s remarkable performance is not only a testament to her dedication and talent but also a source of inspiration for many aspiring athletes in Migori County and beyond. Her triumph on such a prestigious international stage reaffirms our belief in the potential of our local athletes to excel globally,” H.E Governor Ayacko said in his congratulatory message.
Fondly referring to her by her local name, the Governor added, “Congratulations, Nyasuna!” as he joined Kenyans in applauding her outstanding performance.
Lilian’s gold medal win cements her place among Kenya’s athletics greats and adds to the country’s rich legacy in middle-distance running.
