Migori Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko this morning hosted a high-level delegation from the Rongo Juakali Umbrella Association at his residence, as preparations intensify for a major fundraising event set to take place on August 9, 2025. The delegation was led by Chairman Mr. Kephas Ouma Ochwodho, alongside Central Kamagambo Ward Administrator Mr. Elisha Opiyo.
The meeting focused on planning and aligning shared goals for the upcoming fundraiser, which seeks to support the creation of a SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization) tailored to serve 38 artisan subgroups drawn from all four wards within Rongo Sub-County. Governor Ayacko praised the initiative, calling it a bold step toward financial empowerment, formalization of the informal sector, and grassroots economic growth.
The event is expected to draw national attention, with Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Hon. John Mbadi, confirmed to preside over the occasion, along with other key dignitaries. Governor Ayacko reaffirmed his administration’s full backing of the Jua Kali sector, stating, “Artisans are the backbone of our local economy. This SACCO will offer them structure, savings, credit access, and stability. Together, we are shaping a stronger, self-reliant Migori
