The National Agricultural Value Chains Development Project (NAVCDP) Migori County Navcdp Project has launched a five-day residential training program at Kisii ATC for Community-Driven Development Committee (CDDC) members from Migori County’s second cluster of 15 wards. This initiative is designed to strengthen the capacity of grassroots institutions, empowering members with essential skills to effectively oversee and implement agricultural projects. The first cluster concluded their training at the Miyare ATC last week where the last batch will be hosted next week for the similar exercise.
CDDCs are Key Drivers of Agricultural Progress as they represent Common Interest Groups (CIGs) and Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups (VMGs).
In NAVCDP, CDDCs are the community institutions that are pivotal in managing project grants, overseeing community resources like demonstration sites, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices for enhanced productivity.
In his opening remarks, Chief Officer for Agriculture, Mr. Michael Midwa, emphasized the need for integrity, transparency, and dedication among CDDC members. He highlighted the importance of accountability and leadership in meeting the goals of NAVCDP while advancing Migori County’s broader development objectives. Mr. Midwa urged members to focus on the needs of their communities, ensuring their efforts yield meaningful and lasting benefits.
