HONOURED.
My nomination and award as Sanitation champion of the year I owe it to God. indeed it is God’s design and Grace!.
Thank you Western Kenya Sanitation Project for recognizing my enthusiasm for a clean CBD, Thank you Ministry of Health
Am full of joy and proud of Migori county government administration for my appointment as Municipality administrator and role to champion Public hygiene and sanitation in urban areas which is a challenge we currently face as a society.waste is generated everyday by human activities and the hallmark is its management to ensure a waste free environment.
basically, Sanitation is the practice of safely disposing waste generated, collecting and disposing at the right place and providing adequate services and facilities for that purpose.
Within Migori Municipality, I have been Christened “Mtu wa Takataka”, some people call me “market ceo”. Am associated with collection of waste in the CBD, in my daily routine I open my assignments with ensuring the CBD is clean and free of waste. I don’t do it alone and can’t take all the credit, Together as a team drawn from the environment department, Public Health, Municipality, Enforcement officers, Trade and Revenue department, we handle
solid waste management, wastewater/ liquid management and drainage system.
Generally , our efforts collectively are aimed at creating a safe environment for residents of Migori and protecting human health by providing a clean environment that will stop the transmission of disease, especially through the fecal–oral route. We do our work diligently with passion and dedication, because cleanliness is next to Godliness.
The Sanitation Championship award came to me as a surprise, being one of the new nominees, I owe it to members of the public who accepted the change advocacy towards our waste management policy.
During the Award ceremony at Isebania attended by National Government officials including permanent secretary for Health and County Government officials led by the Deputy Governor Dr Mahiri, the awards are aimed at recognizing excellence, leadership and innovation in the sanitation sector,
Sanitation awards respond to the need for encouraging and recognizing contribution of sectors players in the public hygiene and sanitation efforts, in this regard, I owe the award to the staff I work with to do primary cleaning,
My colleagues from department of Environment Mr Victor Osoo, Mr Chris Ouko, and all not mentioned. I equally loud the Municipality sweepers led by their supervisors Mr Fredrick Anguro and Madam Janet, without their efforts and dedication to work I wouldn’t be honoured
Additionally, I owe it to my colleagues at work, Manager Mr Owino Dismas Onyango, Madam CPA Ruth Omollo, Madam Triza Ogolla and Madam Nashrin.trusting me with the responsibility to manage waste
Finally, WKSP, Public health staffs Ken. Naomi Roosevelt, Evance Ogolla. Ubeyona. Aherou, amor kodu. May God Bless you
My family and I are happy.
Moving forward I undertake to develop a dialogue based approach to waste management so as to help society change in ways of handling waste. We shall roll a robust program soon that will impact on the highway to sanitation and hygiene like never before
