Today, the County Government of Migori through the Fisheries and Blue Economy Department delivered 50,000 Fingerlings and Fishfeeds to all the Beach Management Units in Nyatike along the shores of L.Victoria that had received the fish cages a few months back.
The Fingerlings and Fishfeeds were provided as part of the county government’s initiative to support the growth and development of the fisheries sector in the region. The BMUs are responsible for the management and conservation of fishery resources in their respective areas. The cages are designed to enable fishermen to farm fish in a controlled and sustainable manner, while also protecting the environment.
The provision of Fingerlings and Fishfeeds is just one of the many initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable fisheries and enhancing economic opportunities in the Blue Economy sector. With the right policies and investments, the Blue Economy has the potential to transform the lives of thousands of people in Migori and beyond.
