Migori County administration had the privilege of hosting a delegation from the Ministry of Water and Sanitation and the World Bank to kick off the 6-year Kenya Water Sanitation and Hygiene (K-WASH) program. Led by Project Coordinator Elly Ochere, representing Principal Secretary Julius Korir, this transformative initiative is funded by the World Bank in Collaboration with Migori County Government to enhance access to clean water and sanitation across Kenya from 2024 to 2030. 

Migori is among 19 counties set to benefit from this $250 million focusing on Rural supply and sanitation services, Water sector efficiency improvement and policy reforms.

The County is fully committed to supporting this project by leveraging county’s strengths, including low open defecation rates, high rural toilet penetration, and ongoing water projects in partnership with other stakeholders. Through strategic planning and sustainable management of K-WASH services, the county promise to ensure that Migori residents gain reliable access to clean water and improved sanitation, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.
