In the past few weeks, Migori town faced unprecedented challenges due to severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall upstream. This disaster has greatly impacted our local traders—who are the backbone of our economy—resulting in the loss of goods and merchandise valued in the millions. The devastation has been heart-wrenching, and my administration, in partnership with the national government led by President William Ruto, recognized the urgent need to support our traders during this difficult time.
It is with empathy and commitment to our community that we have today provided financial assistance to our traders, enabling them to recover and rebuild their businesses. We have disbursed financial support in cash to all market groups and sectors so that they restock their inventory and continue their various businesses, ensuring that they can rise again after this setback.
Let me assure you, the welfare of our people is of utmost importance, and my administration will continue to stand by our traders and all whom this disaster has impacted.

H. E Dr. Ochilo G. M Ayacko, EGH

Governor, County Government of Migori.
