The 5th edition of the Piny Luo Festival was officially ushered in at Rongo University, marking a vibrant celebration of Luo heritage and identity. The event was graced by ODM Party Leader, Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga, who presided over the opening ceremony.

The festival, now a cornerstone of cultural pride in the region, stands as a mirror of the Luo people’s identity. It provides a platform to honor cultural roots, showcase traditions, and renew collective commitment toward building thriving and sustainable livelihoods.

Organizers emphasized that unity gains true meaning when anchored in peace, tolerance, and mutual respect. Values such as honesty, loyalty, generosity, and inclusivity were highlighted as the pillars that strengthen community bonds.

“Embracing our different voices, ideas, and expressions is what fuels our shared journey toward progress and lasting prosperity,” said the guest Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga, underscoring the importance of diversity in cultural growth.

The festival continues tomorrow with a lineup of cultural performances, exhibitions, and interactive sessions designed to engage participants of all ages. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged not to miss the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich traditions and vibrant spirit of the Luo community.
