EDUCATION SERVICES
- Oversee, the operations and management of youth polytechnics, pre-primary education including early childhood care and education programs in the county;
- Coordinate and monitor education and training in the County on behalf of the national government and the county government;
- Plan, promote, develop, and coordinate education, training and research in the county in accordance with the provisions of the Basic Education Act, early childhood education Act 2021, the national education policy and the laws and policies of the county government;
- Interpret national policies in education based on the county’s needs;
- Strengthen staffing levels.
- Infrastructure development in ECDE and vocational education training centres (VETCs).
- Enhance good governance and quality assurance.
- Enhance digital literacy
- Promote youth apprenticeship and employment opportunities.
- Invest in instructional, teaching and learning materials.
- Support retention and transition.
- Organize for trainings on curriculum development to the ECDE teachers and VETC instructors.
- Enhance good governance and quality assurance.
- Investing in facilities for childcare and early learning.
- Strengthen parental education and support for responsive caregiving
- Invest in gender responsive education system, equitable access to education and life skills.
- Enhancement of equitable access to water, sanitation and hygiene system.
- Enhance social welfare and protection system and poverty eradication
- To administer and manage ECDE and VETC education policies and programs
- Promote climate change adaptation and mitigation in liaison with the department of environment.
- Establish efficient and effective disaster management strategies in learning institutions.
- Enhance participation and inclusion of the vulnerable and needy students in the community through the education support program
- Perform such other functions as may be necessary for the better carrying out of the education functions within the core mandates under the Basic Education Act or any other written law.
