H.E Dr. Ochilo George Mbogo Ayacko is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and the Supreme Court with extensive experience in legal practice.

He specializes in Legislative Drafting, Commercial Law, Pro Bono Legal Services, Conveyance Law, Mining Law, Nuclear Law, Industrial Relations Unions & Employment Law, Planning, Environment, Local Government & Land Court Law and General Practice. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya, a Managing Partner in the firm of RON Advocates.

In 1997 – 2007 he was elected the Member of Parliament, the then Rongo Constituency. In the year 2003 – 2004, Dr. Ochilo George Mbogo Ayacko was appointed Minister of Energy and there after 2004 – 2005 he was the Cabinet Minister for Gender, Sports & Culture where he helped create the first commissions and councils on gender, disability and youths, and pushed through the rural electrification programme under the late President Mwai KibakI in 2005.

Governor has also had the opportunity to be the Lead Consultant on Legal & Legislative Matters Advisor to the Cabinet of Southern Sudan, Chair of Implementation Committee of the Board of Directors, Lake Basin Development Authority, Chair of Board of Directors, Kenya Water Institute and Chief Executive Officer & Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB).

Being an expert in Nuclear Law, he was elected to Chair the African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE) at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In October 2018, Governor, was elected as the third Senator for Migori County after a by election on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket. During his tenure he was a member of Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries which considers all matters relating to agriculture, irrigation, livestock, fisheries development, veterinary services. He was also a member of Senate Standing Committee on Energy which is related to fossil fuels exploration, development, production, maintenance and regulation of energy and also served as the Senate Committee on Chair of County Investments and Accounts Committee (CIPAC). He became the vice chair of the Senate committee on finance and budget.

H.E Dr. Ochilo G.M. Ayacko is an alumni of Alliance School, Homabay School, UoN (University of Nairobi), Marquette University (USA), University of Montpellier (France) and also holds a Doctorate in Leadership & Change Management from USIU.
