Waziri Silas Owuor led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kakodo Community Water Project, marking the beginning of construction and equipping works aimed at improving access to clean water in the region.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the County Government of Migori and CARE International Kenya. Under the partnership, the county government will oversee the drilling of a borehole, as well as the piping and extension of water lines within Kakodo and surrounding areas. CARE Kenya will handle the solarisation of the project, installation of elevated tower tanks, and the construction of water kiosks.
The project is part of CARE Kenya’s broader mission to enhance access to safe water, sanitation, and improved hygiene practices for poor and vulnerable communities.
The project has officially been handed over to the contractor, who is expected to complete the works within the next two months.
