USAID’s Feed the Future program, alongside implementing partners TechnoServe, FIPS Africa, Busara, and Save the Children, today introduced the Kenya Food Systems Activity during a consultative meeting with Migori County leadership. The initiative aims to strengthen food security, boost agricultural value chains, and promote sustainable development in the region.

The meeting engaged representatives from key county sector departments, including Agriculture, Trade and Cooperatives, Health, Environment, Gender, Water, and Education. Discussions centered on fostering collaboration to address food insecurity, malnutrition, and economic challenges while ensuring the project aligns with the county’s priorities.

USAID representatives highlighted the program’s focus on building resilient food systems through modern farming practices, improved market access, and community empowerment initiatives.

“Strengthening food systems is critical to addressing hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. Through collaboration with Migori County, this program will bring sustainable solutions to farmers and entrepreneurs,” said a USAID representative.

Migori County leadership welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism about its potential to transform agricultural productivity, enhance livelihoods, and support inclusive economic growth.
The Kenya Food Systems Activity is part of USAID’s broader strategy to enhance local food production and promote sustainable development across Kenya. Future engagements are planned to finalize an actionable roadmap for the project’s implementation.
