Transfer of the Sori fish landing facility

On Thursday the 28th day of September 2023, we reported that H.E Dr. Ochillo GM Ayacko the Governor of Migori County paid a courtesy call to The Principal Secretary, State Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries, Ms. Betsy Njagi in her Nairobi Office to discuss a partnership on bettering the lives of Migori County Fishermen and Fish Farmers. Top of the agenda was the transfer of the Sori fish landing facility initiated and owned by the national government worth Ksh147 million to the Migori County Government and Sori Beach Management Unit.
Today less than 5 days later, the deal is ripe and served. Migori County DG led a delegation of Migori County leadership and leaders of Sori BMU officially received the facility and signed the transfer documents in Sori Nyatike Subcounty.
The DG in his address reassured the fishing community of their commitment to rebrand the fishing fraternity for much better and smarter work and returns.
Present from the national government to sign the transfer were Mr. Kodrick Kundu, the state secretary of the Department of Blue Economy and Fisheries, Mr. Stanley Tunoi, assistant director of fisheries based in Kisumu, and Mr. Felix Bett, state legal Officer. On the side of the Migori county government were Mr. Gradus Adis the County Attorney, Mr. Lucas Musenda CECM Agriculture, Mr. John Oring’o CECM Roads Transport and Public Works and Mr. George Ocholla, Chief Officer Fisheries, and Blue Economy. The leadership and membership and Sori BMU were also present.
