The much-anticipated Rongo County Leagues Tournament 2025 kicked off in high gear this week, bringing together grassroots football talent from across the region. The tournament, a key platform for nurturing youth sports development, has received a major boost following the donation of sports kits from the Migori County Sports Directorate in partnership with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Migori Branch.
The sports kits, which include jerseys, boots, and balls, were distributed to participating teams to ensure a level playing field and promote professional standards in local football.
Speaking during the launch at Rongo Stadium, representatives from the Sports Directorate emphasized the County Government’s commitment to empowering youth through sports.
“We are proud to support this tournament as part of our broader goal to invest in youth talent and promote unity through sports. This collaboration with FKF is a testament to what we can achieve when stakeholders come together,” said a senior official from the Migori County Sports Directorate.
FKF Migori Branch Chair also applauded the partnership, noting that such support is critical in identifying and nurturing future stars of Kenyan football.
The Rongo County Leagues Tournament is expected to run through the rest of the season, with teams from all wards participating. Winners will be awarded trophies and cash prizes, with scouts and coaches closely watching for rising stars.
The County Government reaffirmed its continued support for community-level tournaments, which are not only a talent pipeline but also foster peace, youth engagement, and healthy lifestyles.
