The Migori County Aggregation and Industrial Park, situated in Macalder, Nyatike Constituency, was launched in September 2023 with a total budget of KSh 500 million. This ambitious project is jointly funded by the county and national governments, each contributing KSh 250 million.
The industrial park’s primary goal is to enhance manufacturing and agro-industrial investments in the region. Upon completion, it is projected to create approximately 30,000 jobs, significantly boosting employment opportunities. The facility is designed to function as a hub for the collection, sorting, grading, and distribution of goods, thereby optimizing logistics and supply chain operations.
This initiative is set to revolutionize Migori County’s key economic sectors, including fishing, agriculture (with a focus on sweet potatoes, rice, and maize), mining, and the sugar industry. By providing a centralized location for processing and value addition, the park will play a pivotal role in driving economic growth and improving livelihoods.
As of January 2025, we are pleased to report that the project is 80% complete, marking a significant milestone in this transformative endeavor.
