There was a strong sense of unity and purpose over the weekend as H.E Governor Ochillo Ayacko, Energy Cabinet Secretary Hon. Opiyo Wandayi, Farouk Kibet, and several other national and county leaders visited Rongo and Nyatike for a community fundraiser focused on empowering women, churches, and small businesses.

The event, which attracted large crowds, aimed to support grassroots development by channelling funds into women-led groups, church activities, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Local leaders described it as a timely initiative that puts people at the heart of economic transformation.

“This isn’t just about raising money it’s about creating opportunities and giving people the support they need to build better lives,” said one of the leaders at the event.

By focusing on women and SMEs, the initiative speaks to a broader commitment to inclusive growth, job creation, and community empowerment. Leaders present reiterated that when local businesses grow and women are empowered, the ripple effects are felt across entire communities.

The atmosphere was filled with optimism, with residents expressing gratitude and hope that such efforts would continue to reach those who need them most.
