The collaboration between Engineers Without Borders (EWB) – Princeton University, USA and the County Government of Migori, Department of Water and Energy, in the Nyabohanse Water Project, is of significant strategic value in advancing the county’s water and sanitation agenda. This partnership serves as a catalyst for innovation, sustainable development, and enhanced service delivery. It strengthens technical capacity, mobilizes resources, and guarantees communities lasting access to safe and reliable water services.
The project scope includes pipeline extension, construction of a 150m³ steel-pressed elevated tank, and development of the distribution main.
Implementation is undertaken jointly with EWB–Princeton University, the Lake Region Development Program, MIWASCO, and the Duveskog Community, who are the direct beneficiaries of this intervention.
Beyond improved water supply, the project will contribute to better public health outcomes, reduced time spent in water collection, and enhanced socio-economic development. Reliable access to clean water will support schools, health facilities, and local enterprises, thereby uplifting community livelihoods and reinforcing the county’s commitment to achieving universal access to safe water and sanitation.
