This morning, the Migori County Department of Water and Energy flagged off the distribution of 40 water tanks, each with a capacity of 10,000 liters, valued at Kshs 4.7 million.
The tanks were allocated to all forty wards, targeting schools facing significant water challenges.
The event was graced by Mr. Caleb Opondi, CECM Environment, representing the Acting CECM for Water and Energy, Mourice Otunga, who said that this initiative aligns with the manifesto of His Excellency, Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko, to ensure residents have access to clean water.
Both primary and secondary schools identified as having a critical need for water were prioritized for this program.
The Acting Chief Officer for Water and Energy Rhoda Nchagwa and other officials from the Department of Water and Energy were also present at the flag-off ceremony.
