Hon. Caleb Opondi assumed office as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of the Ministry of Public Service Management and Devolution in the County Government of Migori in October 2022. With an illustrious career spanning several decades, Hon. Opondi has left an indelible mark on various sectors, showcasing his unwavering commitment to public service. He is currently the CECM of Environment, Natural Resources, Climate Change and Disaster Management
Hon. Opondi served as the KNUT (Kenya National Union of Teachers) Executive Secretary for Migori County from 2014 to 2022. During his tenure, he demonstrated exemplary leadership and advocacy for teachers’ rights, welfare, and professional development. His dedication to education and his vision for an improved learning environment earned him a distinguished reputation among educators and stakeholders alike.
Hon. Opondi’s passion for education and administration extends beyond the union. Prior to his role in KNUT, he served as a vital member of the Migori County Education Board in the Ministry of Education Science and Technology. His valuable insights and expertise significantly contributed to shaping educational policies and initiatives within the region.
Throughout his career, Hon. Opondi has garnered invaluable experience in various leadership capacities. He has served as the School Head in prestigious educational institutions, including Kadika Primary School, Asar Johanson Primary School, and Got Kachacha Primary School. As a devoted educator, he played a pivotal role in nurturing young minds and cultivating a conducive learning environment.
Furthermore, Hon. Opondi’s dedication to uplifting the teaching profession led him to actively participate in the Teachers’ Service Commission, where he served as a member of the Teachers Medical Scheme Governance Committee. His contributions to the welfare of teachers have been instrumental in enhancing healthcare provisions for educators and their families.

He is an alumnus of Mount Kenya University, where he pursued his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.
