Dr. Betty Samburu is a Senior Expert in Health, Education and Research with Extensive experience in coordination of multisectoral stakeholders, monitoring the processes of planning, formulation, and adoption of strategic plans in the Public & Private sectors, Development Partners and Non-Governmental Organizations. She is a PhD holder from Kenyatta University on Maters to do with Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Security. She is Client –focused senior health, nutrition and education expert with proven record of improving quality of lives by optimizing Knowledge, leadership strategies, change management and ability to deliver results. Create new evidence based policies, develop/monitor Key Performance Indicators and execute strategies. Experienced research scientist with high capability to design, conduct and implement research. Adept at bridging the gap between people, process and technology to increase productivity. Build, maintain partnerships locally and internationally, drive to achieve results for impact, innovative and embraces change, thinks and acts strategically, train, mentor and develop careers of highly engaged teams through innovative programs. She has served at various capacities in both public and private sector as a deputy head of nutrition and head of programmes in Kenya within the health sector, A research coordinator in the Ministry of Health, a nutrition and early childhood development specialist at the United Nations (UN). She is a research specialist and has coordinated research both locally and internationally which has generated strong evidence for programming and policy formulation. She has worked as a specialist in emergency nutrition programme in the Ministry of Health. She has represented Kenya in Over 15 countries while case sharing projects that has had impact in the lives of mothers and children. She has previously served as the National Treasurer Nutrition Association of Kenya. The secretary to the national Maternal Infant and Young Child Feeding Committee gazzetted under the Kenya Gazette No 34 of 2012. She has passionately participated in women and youth empowerment programs at the grassroot including fighting harmful practices like female genital mutilation within her community. She is passionate about changing lives of women and children.
In education and professional arena, Dr. Betty is the current vice chairperson of Board of Management at Moi Nyabohanse Girls National School and BOM Chair at Kwibancha Secondary School. She was an external exerminer Nairobi KMTC. She was key in development of the new CBC curriculum in collaboration with KICD and other sectors. She is a member of ECD network of Kenya and the current patron of Kuria East Teachers welfare association. She has engaged in community work through extensive mentorship of students in schools. She has served as a secretary and chairperson of the Kuria Professional Association of Kenya since 2017.
