Migori County Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko on Monday morning hosted a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Gender, Culture, and Children’s Affairs, led by Principal Secretary Ms. Ummi Bashir, CBS, as preparations intensify for the upcoming Piny Luo Festival.
The meeting, held at the Migori County headquarters on 24 November 2025, focused on the county’s readiness and collaborative efforts to deliver the three-day cultural extravaganza slated for 14th–16th December 2025.
Governor Ayacko expressed his gratitude for the national government’s support, noting that the festival will be a defining moment for the county.
“This festival will be a landmark celebration of our heritage, cultural pride, and community unity. As Migori County, we are committed to hosting this event to ensure its success and to position our county as a leading hub for cultural preservation and tourism,” he said.
PS Ummi Bashir commended the county government’s proactive preparation and affirmed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring the festival achieves its national objectives of promoting cultural identity and empowering communities.
The Piny Luo Festival is expected to draw thousands of participants, partners, and visitors from across Kenya and the diaspora. Organizers say the event will showcase the beauty, richness, and diversity of the Luo culture, featuring traditional music, dance, cuisine, art, heritage exhibitions, and community dialogues.
Governor Ayacko emphasized that Migori County is ready to welcome all attendees and create a memorable experience celebrating unity and cultural pride.
Preparations continue as the countdown to one of Kenya’s most anticipated cultural events begins.
