On the second day of the Agripreneur Model Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions at Treat House Hotel in Rongo, trainers engaged in practical sessions on data collection using three key digital applications.
The hands-on training aimed to equip trainers with advanced skills to effectively utilize digital tools for farmer profiling, data management, and market analysis. The session featured:
1. KYF Mobile Application
Used for real-time farmer registration and data input.
Streamlines capturing of essential farmer details, including crop and livestock information.
2. KAMIS (Kenya Agricultural Market Information System)
A tool for gathering and analyzing market trends and prices.
Enables trainers and farmers to make informed decisions on product pricing and market opportunities.
3. Agro-Dealer Module
Facilitates networking between agripreneurs and input suppliers.
Ensures farmers’ access to quality seeds, fertilizers, and farm tools.
Trainers were guided on field-level data collection techniques, ensuring accurate and consistent farmer profiling.
Emphasis was placed on the seamless integration of technology into agricultural practices to modernize farm operations and enhance extension services.
The session included mock field exercises, enabling trainers to simulate real-world data collection scenarios.
Today’s sessions were officiated by the County Chief Officer in charge of Livestock Development, Mr. Elvis Kithine, who reminded officers of their critical role in ensuring the success of the program.
This practical approach to data collection plays a pivotal role in achieving the objectives of the Agripreneur Business Acceleration Model. It ensures that agripreneurs can:
Collect, analyze, and utilize data effectively.
Support farmers in improving productivity.
Facilitate access to markets and enhance profitability.
By the end of the session, trainers expressed confidence in using the applications and readiness to cascade their knowledge to sub-county agripreneurs and Community-Driven Development Committee (CDDC) officials in the upcoming phases of the training.
