Flagship Projects
Omani farm demonstration site: This site has been established to demonstrate to the public good forestry activities and general conservation matters.
It has different tree species to give an integrated learning approach

Public Awareness and Participation in the Sector
Public participation is done during;
- Dissemination of information to the public through the department of information and public communication
- Sectoral Planning and budgeting process
- Allocation of projects and programmes
- Public awareness is done through stakeholder meetings and community sensitization at ward levels (public Baraza)
- Selection of beneficiaries is done through public meetings conducted by stakeholders.
- Greening Programme - school committee and administrative units involved in the process
- Rehabilitation of hills – youths, women groups and persons with disability within the site involved in supply, planting and maintenance
- Projects are implemented based on the community preference
Sustainability of Projects
- To educate and sensitize the public on the need, ownership and care of projects
- Collaborating with Non-state actors like banks, NGOs and CBOs through Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Risks and Challenges of the Sector
- Failure by the community to take care of trees planted under the greening programme
- Inadequate knowledge on environmental conservation
- Climate change resulting from unpredictable weather patterns.
- Natural disasters for example fire outbreak during dry seasons on hills
- Encroachment into forest for agriculture and settlement
Strategies and Methodologies to Achieve Project Objectives
- The County has established Monitoring and Evaluation department to ascertain the value-for- money for all projects, programmes and policies implemented
- Enhance efficiency, productivity and sustainability of natural resource use.
- Develop strategic approaches to policy development, implementation and integration including improving environmental governance and raising awareness.
- Employ an integrated all-hazards risk-based approach for mitigation, response, continuity of operations, recovery and preparedness planning.
- Develop and implement efficient and effective solid waste management.
Audit and Control Measures
All procurement of seedlings and cleaning services are tendered to youths, women and persons with disability considered as per the constitution.
- Quarterly monitoring and evaluation for the implemented projects
